First ever local authority electric vehicle charge point project in Wokingham Borough Council
AC EV chargers
Locations
INTRODUCTION
In 2023, Flowbird launched its first local authority EV charge points
in Wokingham Borough, enabling residents and visitors to easily park, charge, and pay using various payment methods as EV adoption grows.
THE CHALLENGE
Wokingham Borough Council aims to:
Support
both parking and charging transactions through a single platform.
THE SOLUTION
An effective EV infrastructure to link charging and payments together
Flowbird installed and funded 44 AC EV chargers across 20 on- and off-street locations in the Borough, serving as the Charge Point Operator through the Flowbird app.
Integrated with existing parking terminals, this setup allows users to pay for parking and charging in a single step, marking the first inclusive park-and-charge solution. The app, accessible to both registered users and guests, charges for both the parking session and kWh consumed.
Supported by a 24/7 helpline, this system enables the Council to offer flexible parking and charging rates.
